Privacy Policy

The short version: Qurrent collects nothing. There is no account, no analytics, no tracking, and no server of ours for your notes to sit on. What you write stays on your devices and in your own iCloud.

What we collect

Nothing.

• No account, no sign-up, no email address.
• No analytics, crash reporting, or usage measurement.
• No advertising identifiers, no tracking, no data brokers.
• Nothing sold or shared with anyone, because nothing is gathered in the first place.

The app's privacy manifest declares no collected data types and no tracking, and its App Store privacy label says the same.

Where your notes live

On your device, in the app's own storage.

If you are signed in to iCloud, your notes sync through your iCloud account using Apple's CloudKit private database. That is your storage under your agreement with Apple. We have no access to it and no way to read it. Apple's handling of iCloud data is covered by Apple's Privacy Policy.

If you are not signed in to iCloud, Qurrent works exactly the same, just on one device.

Optional features that touch other things on your device

Each of these is off until you turn it on or grant permission, and each can be turned off again at any time.

Calendar. If you allow calendar access, Qurrent reads your events so it can show the meeting you are currently in and let you attach a note to it. Access is read-only — Qurrent never creates, edits, or deletes anything in your calendar — and event details never leave your device.

Camera and photos. Photos and files you attach are stored with your notes, in the same place your notes live. Qurrent does not upload them anywhere else.

Markdown backup (Mac). Writes a plain-text markdown copy of your notes into your iCloud Drive, so your writing is readable without Qurrent. It is one-way: Qurrent writes that copy and never reads it back.

System search. Note titles and short extracts are added to your device's Spotlight index so that system-wide search can find them. That index belongs to your device.

On-device intelligence. Suggested labels and day summaries are produced by Apple's on-device model on your own hardware. Your note text is not sent to us or to any other service to do this.

Agent access (Mac only, off by default)

This is the one feature that lets another program on your Mac reach your notes, so it is worth spelling out.

When you switch Agent access on, Qurrent starts a small server that listens only on 127.0.0.1 — your own machine's loopback address. It is not reachable from your network or from the internet. Requests must present a token that Qurrent generates and stores in your Mac's Keychain.

While it is on, a local app you have registered with that token can read your notes and, if you leave "Allow writes" enabled, create and edit them. It cannot delete anything — Qurrent has no delete operation for other programs to call.

Registering a client writes that token into the client's own configuration file, so treat it like a password. Turning Agent access off stops the server immediately.

We never see this traffic; it does not leave your Mac.

Network use

Qurrent makes no network requests of its own. It has no servers, no API, and no analytics endpoint. The only network activity is:

• iCloud sync, handled by Apple between your devices and your iCloud account.
• A loopback self-check on your own machine, used to confirm the local agent server is responding when you have that feature switched on.

Qurrent contains one open-source component (KeyboardShortcuts, for the Mac global hotkey). It runs entirely on your Mac and makes no network connections.

Children

Qurrent collects no data from anyone, including children.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR and the EU GDPR you have rights to access, correct, and erase personal data that a company holds about you. We hold none, so there is nothing for us to send you or delete on your behalf.

Your notes are yours and stay under your control:

• Delete individual notes inside the app.
• Delete the app to remove its local copy from a device.
• Remove the synced copy in Settings → your name → iCloud → Manage Account Storage.
• Turn off individual permissions in the Settings app at any time.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it, and the current version always lives at this address. Material changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
